Make an Original Hand-Painted Silk Scarf!

Photo above is a student piece in process. Amazing, isn’t it?! Note: The listed class will be creating a 8×72″ wearable scarf.

Make an Original Hand-Painted Silk Scarf!  — Friday, January 6, 6-8pm and Saturday, January 7, 10am-2pm, $85, all materials included.

Silk painting yields beautiful results even for those inexperienced in any kind of painting or drawing. No previous art experience is needed.  We’ll use water-based French dyes, water-based resists, and chemical dyesetting (no steaming).  Assorted geometric designs, as well as designs from nature will be provided for your use. You will learn about fabrics, dyes, and resists, and discover some special effects, and will go home with a finished, handmade 8”x72″scarf. Bring a bag lunch on Saturday so you can take a lunch break or eat while you work.

Additional sessions, days and times can be added if there is enough interest; silk painting workshops can be designed as private parties for ladies’ night out, mother-daughter dates, and more. Just ask.

Pre-registration is required for all gatherings, and space is limited. Contact Jeanne Miller at 805-602-7817 or email with questions or to register.

Jeanne Miller’s paintings celebrate the earth, water and sky of the American west in silk, oil and pastel. She lives on California’s beautiful central coast where she teaches painting, leads guided painting experiences outdoors in vineyards, and does custom work for residential and commercial use.
